PromonLogicalis modernizes and ensures Wi-Fi network quality in hospital chain

, Jun 16, 2016

Scenario

Responsible for managing 32 hospitals in the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Pernambuco and the Federal District, this hospital chain is now the largest independent hospital operator in Brazil. The group has grown exponentially in recent years, mainly through hospitals acquisition.

This growth has led to a heterogeneous information technology environment throughout the chain’s different units. Facilities’ Wi-Fi connection offerings, for instance, produced a significant number of complaints to hospitals Ombudsman. That's because some units offered intermittent connections to customers, while others offered nothing at all. Given this scenario, and in order to provide a better experience for visitors, companions and patients during their hospital stay, hospital chain initiated a major Wi-Fi network modernization project.

Solution

In 2015, the client sought out PromonLogicalis to help designing a robust and efficient solution that would guarantee secure access and high-speed and quality connectivity in the hospitals. Based on a survey website report and demand and hospital environments analysis, PromonLogicalis designed what would be the ideal solution to meet the chain’s real needs.

This year, both companies formalized the partnership by signing a five-year contract to provide LAN and Wi-Fi equipment, with software layer and Wingo management system, hosted in PromonLogicalis datacenter. The project also encompassed all Wi-Fi network managed service’s scope.

By agreement, PromonLogicalis will deploy 707 access points in six chain hospitals. Access points connectivity and operation will be managed by PromonLogicalis’ Advanced Services Center (CSA).

Managed services also include equipment monitoring, incident management, equipment replacement, troubleshooting, and portal monitoring and support for all involved locations.

Through Wingo, Wi-Fi services offered by hospital chain also meet the requirements imposed by the Brazilian Internet Civil Mark, ensuring access information storing and secure connections.

Benefits

Access points park renewal in addition to managed services for monitoring access, troubleshooting and maintenance, allow the client to offer patients, visitors and companions with quality and high-speed internet connection. By ensuring safe and efficient access through the 707 new access points, makes customer/patient stay in the hospitals a little less stressful and tiring. Or more pleasant and happy, as in the case of maternity hospitals.

From a business perspective, hospitals also gain by reducing complaint rates and increasing user satisfaction.
