One of the largest banks in Brazil chooses Logicalis for greater internal security control

, Out 11, 2017

Scenario

One of the largest private banks in Brazil was seeking to provide controlled access to corporate, wireless, and cable networks, in addition to a guest Internet network with visibility over who has access and what is accessed in the network; mitigating threat spread and, therefore, meeting compliance. To meet the demand for network control and visibility, the bank chose Logicalis as a solution provider.

The client demanded a solution to effectively implement the control required by internal security policies and meet the information security team’s requirements, encompassing all the bank’s corporate buildings across the country.

Solution

In partnership with Cisco, Logicalis proposed a set of integrated solutions to the client. The Cisco ISE addresses a series of security functions for network access control, whether cable, wireless or VPN. Furthermore, the solution provides centralized policy control, which means that, from one single point, it’s possible to control all and any network access type. Other features composing the solution proposed by Logicalis are Guest access, to control guest access and manage credentials, and BYOD access management feature, to control wireless network access from personal devices, available for company’s top executives.

For over a year, Logicalis has been implementing the 802.1X control in the client’s network and has recently initiated the Trustsec implementation, which expands the control over the client’s network, preventing lateral threat propagation and uses 802.1x authentication.

Benefits

With the 802.1x authentication integrated to the client’s legacy AD user base and network infrastructure equipment, it was possible to make a smooth and transparent transition to the user, from an open and uncontrolled network to a network under the bank’s IT team command.

Without noticeable impacts to the users, business areas have managed to reduce costs with security issues and, at the same time, meet regulatory rules that, if not met, could generate penalties for the financial institution. In addition, there was cost reduction with data retention, and greater scalability, and availability.
